I Turn My Back Upon You, Sirrah
Walz' behavior as a soldier makes him the lowest of the low
Sirrah is a form of address used for a man or boy of lower station than you. While I claim no special station in life generally, there is one thing I do claim. And that is the fact that I am an Army veteran. A veteran with service in combat. Tim Walz claims to be in the same special group of people that are warriors who served in combat.
He is not. But he is one of a special group of scum that claim to be such and are not. Whose valor is stolen through lies and deceit. And thus, I turn my back upon you, sirrah, for you are lower than I and unworthy of my respect.
Tim Walz took an early retirement and forfeited his conditional promotion to E-9 in the Army National Guard when his artillery battalion was put on orders to Iraq in 2005. Not everyone is cut out to serve in the military in combat.
However, Walz served in the National Guard for over 20 years. He happily took the pay, the prestige, and the money for college in order to pay for his teaching degree. In fact, he was happy to get deployed to Germany and Norway during the 1990’s with the National Guard. Those are pretty nice temporary deployments. When the US asked him to pay it back with the service in wartime that he had promised, he said no. When he was asked to lead his soldiers in combat, he said no. Such is the behavior of a “man” who lacks honor and valor.
Yet, today, he claims to have served in war, and to be a veteran of the War on Terror. He has made statements about “weapons that he carried in war” when discussing banning AR-15 style rifles, and yet he never served in war. He is happy to use that as part of his political agenda. He has spoken of himself as a retired Command Sergeant Major when, in fact, he is a retired Master Sergeant. This is the very definition of stolen valor. This is even worse than John Kerry, who was bad enough with his Purple Heart for getting scratched out in the jungle, not actually wounded.
Regardless of his political positions, I could never support Tim Walz for this. Anyone who claims to be a veteran when they are not is slimy scum not entitled to be called a man. Anyone who took the pay, the prestige, the benefits of military service, but then avoided the combat service that his country asked of him, is no leader, nor worthy of respect or titles of honor.
I turn my back upon you, sirrah.
Like or hate JD Vance’s politics, his valor is not stolen.

Couldn't have said it better myself. As a Viet Nam combat veteran I understand and agree with the distaste for someone who didn't have the guts to go to war but claims he did. He certainly is scum.
Wow.
