I took the flag down when I was physically shooting, boresighting, etc. Some major still felt the need to scold me for it and order me to take it down. He was not in the battalion.
thanks for the feedback ... yeah, I'm an RSO at a gun club and get questions like that routinely. As well as from my friends. That's the approach I've come up with over the years. The most important piece of it is not to just answer with my own preferences.

That was a different pirate flag, then. Good article about first gun choice; I get the same questions in my classes.
